Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Connect ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use our messaging and calling service.
1. Information we collect
- Account details — your name, username, mobile number and (optionally) email address, plus a hashed password.
- Profile — an optional avatar, your "about" text and online/last-seen status.
- Content — the messages, group messages and files you send or receive through the service.
- Contacts — the people you choose to save as contacts.
- Technical data — basic session information needed to keep you signed in.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To deliver your messages, files, presence status and group activity.
- To connect voice and video calls between you and the person you are calling.
- To keep the service safe, prevent abuse and comply with the law.
3. Calls
Voice and video calls are established directly between the participants using WebRTC. Your audio and video are sent peer-to-peer and are not recorded or stored by us.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Your name, username, avatar and online status are visible to other users so they can find and message you. We only share data with service providers strictly necessary to run the service, or when required by law.
5. Data retention
We keep your account data and messages for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual messages, clear conversations, or ask an administrator to delete your account, after which the associated data is removed.
6. Security
Passwords are stored using one-way hashing. Access to the service uses session cookies, and administrative areas are restricted to administrators. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
7. Your choices
- Edit your profile and delete messages at any time from within the app.
- Request deletion of your account by contacting an administrator.
- Control camera and microphone permissions through your browser settings.
8. Children
This service is not intended for children under the age required by your local law. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact an administrator so it can be removed.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, please contact the site administrator.
